Delhi-Meerut Expressway

Delhi-Meerut Expressway

SYSTRA Group in India, recently reached a major milestone with the completion of the first phase of India’s Delhi-Meerut Expressway, one year ahead of schedule.

The newly built section of this ‘green expressway’ was inaugurated on 27th May 2018. It is the country’s first 14-lane expressway.

SYSTRA at the forefront of green technology. Against stiff competition from five other engineering firms, SAI (now part of SYSTRA Group in India) was awarded a contract at the end of 2016 by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to supervise the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

The Delhi-Meerut Expressway will cut travel time between the two cities from two and a half hours to just 45 minutes. It will also contribute substantially to reducing pollution levels and traffic congestion in Delhi.

There are three more phases to be completed before the project is over, all of which are in progress.
